Scots Rocker Returns With a Bang

Bob Findlay is a Scots-born musician & State Registered Nurse now residing in Tasmania.

He returned to the music industry in 2007 in a recording capacity after a 7-year hiatus due to a long battle with alcoholism.

Findlay formerly played in Tasmanias’ top band until the mid-90s, but left basically due to cynicism towards the industry & also to focus on his Nursing career. During this period he was married & is the father of two children.

He had a brief stint recording & playing acoustic gigs; quite a change from the band scene, however alcohol abuse led to his divorce in 2002.

Findlay played only a handful of acoustic gigs at major festivals and events after this as alcohol got the better of him (he never drank when he performed). In addition to this was the re-emergence of media & all that goes with the music 'scene'. Findlay seemed more of a talking point being a reclusive drunk than a sober performer. This is the reason he remains rather media shy.

In April 2007 he moved to Stanley on Tasmanias' far North-West Coast after one too many hospitalisations. He took to recording again with the sole purpose of alcohol distraction but it has escalated rapidly and he is now receiving extensive and consistent airplay in commercial and internet radio stations.

In late 2007 Findlay recorded 2 self-written & performed albums in as many months. The first, "Rough Edges" is entirely comprised of material written over a 20-year period. He did not officially release the album as he went straight on to record his second album, "Straight Lines', which contains 5 tracks written since sobriety.

Findlays' original music is, in varying degrees, akin to that of The Rolling Stones, The Faces, Warren Zevon, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan.

He is now focusing on selling his music in mp3 format due to time & financial constraints. He is soon to return to Nursing but would prefer to actively pursue his career as a musician instead as he feels that, not only is he capable of this, it has been a major factor in maintaining his sobriety.

If Findlay maintains this momentum we are sure to be hearing a lot more about him on the wider stage.
